FIGHTING FOR FILM – Hong Kong Style

Including T’AI CHI FOR THE ACTOR

A one day workshop, taught by Fight Choreographer and Martial Arts trainer Bob Goodwin.

Sunday, 20th April, 2008.
Course fee £100 (£85 for BASSC members).

The day will start with a session on T’ai Chi for the Actor.
Learn principles of fighting that include: physical neutral, natural movement from the core; two person partnering and sensitivity exercises; efficient, centred and aligned movement, floating. The same principles used to teach Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. for the upcoming movie “The Soloist.”

Hong Kong Film Fighting
Fast, fun and challenging. Fast double kicks, swing punches, punctuated strikes, knees, elbows, unique blocks/clearing/covering. Learn what reads specifically for the camera.

The workshops are taught by Robert G. Goodwin (IMDB.com), a film and television actor, a stunt coordinator, sword master, and fight director for theatre. Most recently he was Movement Consultant for Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. on “The Soloist” and has trained actors for film from the original TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES to Christian Bale for BATMAN BEGINS.

Venue: Swiss Cottage, North London

Weapons will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring elbow and knee pads.

This workshop is open to actors who have some experience of fighting for stage or film, or those with some martial arts experience.
