The Claymore WorkshopThe first BASSC stage fighting certification workshop in Scotland. The 1st Claymore Workshop was successfully concluded on 4 April 2008. Another workshop is planned for 2009 but no details are available yet.
Previously, training to certify as an actor/combatant with the BASSC was available in England, Germany and the USA but not Scotland: this is about to change. The Claymore is based on the formula of the highly successful British National Stage Combat Actor/Combatant Workshop and provides a two-week intensive workshop for those who have little or no experience of stage combat. It offers technique and safety foundation skills in the use of Rapier & Dagger and Unarmed Combat, with emphasis on the theatrical presentation of each system. Places are limited so as to provide a high staff-to-student ratio and teaching staff are all Certified Teachers with the BASSC to help you get the best out of this intensive course. You may opt to take the British Academy of Stage & Screen Combat FPT (Fight Performance Test) at the end of the course. Certification by the British Academy of Stage & Screen Combat is an industry standard qualification recognised by Equity and Spotlight.
